Roy Clay Sr. (born 1929) is an American computer scientist and inventor. He was a founding member of the computer division at Hewlett-Packard, where he led the team that created the HP 2116A. After leaving HP he established his own consulting company (Roy L Clay and Associates). His consulting company worked closely with Tom Perkins (Kleiner Perkins) and contributed to formation of Silicon Valley as we know it today.
With the backing of Kleiner Perkins, Roy went on to found and, as CEO, lead Rod-L Electronics until 2015. Rod-L Electronics became a leader in the field of electrical safety test equipment. Roy is the Author of “Unstoppable: The Unlikely Story of a Silicon Valley Godfather”, scheduled for release in February 2022.
