On July 1. Blizzard shared the first details regarding Pelagos and his story. Pelagos presented as a woman in his life time but is now an adult male in the afterlife in Shadowlands. Fans spoke up as the game identified Pelagos with the pronouns "they/them," and then this was changed to he/him in the Alpha.
"The team originally had written him to use they/them pronouns However, we received feedback that he/him would be more considerate of the character's desire to be identified as a man. This change is merely the result of our listening and taking note of that feedback," Blizzard said at the time.
